Castelo dos Mouros
By Bryan Garaventa
"Castelo dos Mouros" is an atmospheric interpretation of the ancient Moorish fortress in Sintra, Portugal, inspired by years of shared visits and descriptive storytelling. Rising above the surrounding forests beneath storm-darkened skies, the castle emerges as both monument and memory. The winding mountain walls, shifting fog, and dramatic landscape of Sintra were reconstructed internally through detailed descriptions gathered over time. The resulting composition explores endurance, isolation, and the layered weight of history suspended within the landscape. Rather than documenting the site literally, the work transforms memory and atmosphere into a cinematic interpretation of place.
